Manufactured using the same materials and specifications as a standard 20’ and 40’ container, ‘open tops’ have the metal roof removed and replaced with a tarpaulin cover, to ensure it remains watertight. The tarpaulin canvas roof offers extra height and capacity inside the container for a variety of different shipping uses. Ideal for loading and unloading via crane or ‘crab’ bucket overhead, or via the steel container doors at one end. Open Top containers normally have a moving or detachable top frame above the doors. They are often used to transport machinery, timber, steel and scrap metal to name a few!
